Cephalotrigona Schwarz, H. F. (1940). Additional species and records of stingless bees (Meliponidae) from British Guiana. Am. Mus. Novit. 1078: 1-12 [10] (first introduced as a subgenus of Trigona Jurine, 1807) .
Type species: Trigona capitata Smith, 1854 by original designation.
