Type data: holotype BMNH 17B 1073 <F> worker.It is possible that this specimen is part of the series examined and described by Smith in 1963 (see<I> Frieseomelitta varia</I> (Lepeletier)).
Type locality: Pará, Brazil.


Frieseomelitta longipes (Smith) may be senior synonym of Frieseomelitta trichocerata Moure - see Oliveira, 2002: 198
