Remarks
The name Megachile variabilis Friese, 1920 has been associated with Megachile (Dasymegachile) by Toro (1986: 127) and Durante et al. (2006:796). This might have derived from an old version of Moure's card catalog that erroneously gives this species as having been described from Chile. According to S. Durante (pers. comm.), who has examined the type material, the species does not belong to the Neotropical fauna.
