Exaerete smaragdina cyanescens Cockerell, T. D. A. (1926). Descriptions and records of bees. CXI. Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist. (9) 17: 657-665 [657] .
Type data: lectotype AMNH 33583 <F> (Nemésio & Rasmussen (2011:32) treat Moure's (1967:413) lectotype designation as invalid. However, this does not proceed, since in the original description Cockerell (1926:657) stated clearly that the “variety is in both sexes”. There is no indication in his publication that the “species-group taxon is based on a single specimen, either so stated or implied in the original publication”, as required by Article 73.1.2 of the current code. Therefore, Moure's designation should be maintained).
Subsequent designation: Moure, J. S. (1967). A check-list of the known euglossine bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae). Atas do Simpósio sôbre a Biota Amazônica, vol. 5 pp. 395-415 [413] .
Type locality: Trinidad & Tobago.
