Remarks

The many named forms related to Eulaema meriana, more specifically E. atleticana, E. flavescens, E. pallescens, E. quadrifasciata, E. stenozona and E. terminata, are very similar in structure, differing only in the details of the tergal pilosity. They may all belong to a single polymorphic species (see Fig. 9 in Oliveira, 2006:282), but are here kept as separate taxa. A thorough study is necessary to better evaluate their status (G. A. R. Melo, unpubl.).
