Euglossa igniventris Friese, H. (1925). Neue neotropische Bienenarten, zugleich II. Nachtrag zur Bienenfauna von Costa Rica. (Hym.). Stett. Entomol. Ztg. 86 (2): 1-41 [29] (In Moure et al. (2007:232), the depository of the type specimen of Euglossa igniventris is was treated as unknown considering that Moure (1967:403) had the female holotype listed under the ZMB collection, while Kimsey & Dressler (1986:232) had it under the USNM collection. Nemésio (2009:236) and Nemésio & Rasmussen (2011:26) list it in the ZMB collection, a position followed here.) .
Type data: holotype ZMB <F> (Nemésio & Rasmussen (2011:26) treat the type specimen as lectotype. Their position is not followed here considering that there is no evidence in the original description for more than one specimen being examined and they have not presented evidence on the contrary (G. A. R. Melo, unpubl.)).
Type locality: Costa Rica, San José, La Caja.
