Type data: holotype RPSP 699c, nest number <F> worker , paratype RPSP 699c, 698c, nest numbers <F> workers (124) (6 specimens, not from nests, with following number: 951522, 951523, 951720, 951721, 951764, 951829).
Type locality: Santo Antonio, Cocos, Bahia, Brasil.
Etymology: from the Latin, rusticus, = rustic, referring to the dry fields where the species occurs.

Neotropical Region: Brazil (Bahia [Cocos, Maracás, Milagres, Salvador], Minas Gerais [Cônego Marinho, Itamarandiba, Janaúba, Jaíba, Lontra])
