Type data: holotype AMNH AMNH-DR-14-1439 <M> male , paratype AMNH AMNH-DR-14-911, AMNH-DR-14-1439 <F> workers (2), <M> male (1) (fragments of one worker and one male, considered paratypes, in the same amber piece of the holotype).
Type locality: Dominican Republic, Miocene amber.
Etymology: from the Latin, tantillus, little, small.
