Type data: lectotype HNHM 686/4 <F> worker (The type series of <I>Trigona fuscipennis </I>Friese, is certainly composed. The specimens from Brazil: Pará and Blumenau are distinct species. One specimen with label of "typus", deposited in ZMB, from Pará, Brazil, was examined by Ayala (1999: 101)) , paralectotype HNHM 686/4 <F> worker (1) , paralectotype HNHM 772/13 <F> workers (2) , paralectotype ZMB <F> workers (?).

Remarks

We consider as Trigona fuscipennis Friese only the specimens from Mexico to Western Ecuador. There are also undescribed species of this group, from South America, which were recorded in the literature as Trigona fuscipennis Friese.
