Type data: syntype USNM 23713 <F> worker (1) (type examined by Roubik, 1992: 516. Ayala, 1999: 92, said having examined the type of "<I>S. luteipennis" </I>deposited in ZMB, from Campinas, Brazil [certainly it is not a syntype!]) , syntype whereabouts unknown <F> worker (1).
Type locality: San Carlos, Costa Rica.
