Trigona alfkeni Friese, H. (1900). Neue arten der Bienengattungen Melipona Ill. Und Trigona Jur. Természetr. Füz. 23: 381-394 [393] (It is possible that Trigona alfkeni Friese is a senior synonym of Partamona peckolti (Friese), considering Parapartamona does not occur in Venezuela. The type specimens were not studied. Pedro & Camargo, 2003: 27, examined one specimen of Partamona peckolti (Friese) identified by Friese as "Trigona alfkeni Friese det. 25", from S. Antonio, Colombia. Other specimen, determined as Trigona alfkeni by Friese, was designated as the holotype of Parapartamona caliensis (Schwarz). Type data: syntype ZMB <F> workers (3) (Probably deposited in ZMB).
Type locality: St. Parime, Venezuela [?].
Etymology: homage to Prof. Dr. Alfken.
