Megalopta lecointei Friese, H. (1926). Die Nachtbienen-Gattung Megalopta Sm. Stett. Entomol. Ztg. 87: 111-135 [121, 122] (Even though Friese attributed this name to Ducke, it was not described by the latter author (see Moure & Hurd, 1987:238)) .
Type data: syntype ZMB <F><M>.According to Moure's notes, there are male and female specimens from Óbidos (Pará, Brazil) at the ZMB collection labeled 'Megalopta lecointei n. sp.' in Ducke's handwriting.
Type locality: not indicated [Brazil, Pará, Óbidos].
